The Barefoot Swimming Philosophy:
Learning to swim should be fun and easy, but for most new
swimmers the process usually involves lots of pulling
(stroking) pushing (kicking) and gasping (breathing),
which is neither easy or fun for most folks.   Yet, with
a little floating thrown in, that is exactly how most swimming
methodologies dictate that we approach mastering the
aquatic environment.

At Barefoot Swimming we think that swimming should be
easy and fun.  We believe that anyone can learn to float
and glide and our students tell us that floating and gliding is
easy and fun.  We know from experience that, with a little
guidance, anyone that can float and glide can learn to swim.
Technique, Technique, Technique:

The physical basics of swimming are really not that hard
to master.  Floating, gliding and hence swimming, is
largely about putting your body in the right position and
adding a little rythum (easier for some than others).
Whether you are learning to glide in the shallow end or
training for an Olympic distance open water swim, if you
are not correctly balanced or  if you are out of
alignment, you will struggle to move through the water.
TECHNIQE RULES.

Barefoot instructors use drills and excercises developed
through Terry Laughlin's Total Imerssion Swimming,
American Red Cross Water Safety  & USA Swimming
programming to build a sound technical base.  Laying
the foundation for you to  move through the water with
confident ease.

Everyone is afraid of something.  At Barefoot Swimming we work
with a lot of late starters and fearful swimmers. We find that by
breaking skills down into easily mastered components and
focusing on correct technique in shallow water, students learn
quickly that what works in shallow water also works in deep water.
Competence builds confidence.
